Style Style

In Michigan, the first state to develop a Kids Kicking Cancer chapter, our students study the Indonesian art of Penchak Silat. However, there are hundreds of different forms of martial arts, and in different regions we use different styles. Whichever form is taught, all forms share the common goal of developing the mind and soul to focus energy in a very powerful way.

Pain & Victory Pain & Victory

The more we fear pain, the greater pain can control us. Every martial art form trains one’s mind to project power and visualize oneself victorious over this pain. The martial artist trains himself or herself to “breathe” through pain, while focusing on inner messages of strength and power. Thus, a trained martial artist has learned to “breathe” through pain and difficult situations, allowing him to respond successfully to a variety of physical and emotional challenges. Kids Kicking Cancer is dedicated to teaching these basic components of the martial arts, together with skills of karate and other disciplines, to help our students find their true power to heal and grow.

Heroes Heroes

Our students, who are the true heroes of Kids Kicking Cancer, are examples of the best in the world of martial arts. Confronted with serious adversity at a young age, their ability to face their challenges with the strength and calm of a true martial artist demonstrates to the world the power of the inner spirit or soul in conquering unbelievable challenges.
